Frequently asked
Counselling offers a dedicated, confidential space to explore what may feel difficult to hold alone. In our sessions, you will be supported to:
I will work collaboratively with you to develop a therapeutic focus that reflects your needs and goals. While clinical understanding and technique are important, I place equal value on the quality of our relationship and creating a space where you feel safe enough to be open and understood.
I offer clinical supervision for counsellors and trainee students. Supervision provides a reflective, confidential space to explore client work in depth, supporting both clinical effectiveness and professional development.
It also helps practitioners manage the emotional demands of their work, maintain ethical standards and identify potential risks. My approach to supervision is collaborative, thoughtful and grounded in clinical integrity.
The supervision sessions I offer are based on the Seven-eyed model of supervision developed by Peter Hawkins and Robin Shohet (1985). A process model which includes five elements: a supervisor, a supervisee, a client, a work context, the wider systemic context and also two interlocking matrices: the client-supervisee and the supervisee-supervisor matrix.
Counselling sessions are usually held weekly. This helps us build the therapeutic relationship and continue progress between sessions. Less regular appointments may not have the same effect as issues aren't fully explored and counselling can lose momentum. That said, if fortnightly appointments would suit you better, we can discuss and arrange that before starting our work together.
Supervision sessions are usually held monthly for 90 minutes. This is standard practice in the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy. The duration will depend on your individual needs and will be reviewed regularly. Short-term work (6–12 sessions) may be appropriate for specific issues like stress or work-related concerns. Deeper issues often benefit from longer-term work.
Some people choose to be in therapy for a long time; others resolve their issues quickly. The length is ultimately up to you.
Confidentiality is central to the therapeutic process and to building trust. Your information will be kept private in line with the BACP Ethical Framework.
There are rare situations where confidentiality may need to be broken — for example, where there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else. If this arises, I will aim to discuss this with you wherever possible.
I only request essential information. After our free initial consultation, I'll send you a brief form to gather key details (such as your contact information for scheduling sessions). This data is stored securely using encrypted systems.
I do not sell or share your information with third parties. I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and comply with GDPR regulations.
You do not need a doctor's referral to begin therapy. I offer an initial 20-minute consultation with no obligation. This provides an opportunity for us to meet, discuss what brings you to therapy and consider whether we are a good fit to work together.
If we decide to proceed, we will agree a contract, clarify your goals and begin the therapeutic process at a pace that feels manageable for you.
Appointments can be arranged via the contact page or by phone. If I am unavailable, please leave your details and I will respond as soon as possible.
Payment methods: BACS or PayPal (details provided at booking).
Cancellations: A minimum of 48 hours' notice is required. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be charged.
Working in Spanish can support you to express yourself more freely and accurately, access deeper emotional experiences, explore culturally specific challenges, and feel fully understood within your context.
Seeking therapy in a second language can sometimes feel limiting — particularly when trying to express complex emotions or personal experiences. For many people, speaking in their first language allows for a deeper, more authentic connection to their inner world.
I provide therapy in Spanish within a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed framework, with awareness of cultural identity and belonging, migration and relocation experiences, family dynamics across cultures, intergenerational expectations, and experiences of adaptation, loss or displacement.
As a Mexican-born, British psychotherapist, I bring both personal and professional understanding to the complexities of living between cultures. Visit the Español page for more information.
